The December 2014 meeting of the Madison DX Club was held on Tuesday the 9th at Fitzgerald’s in Middleton.
The meeting was called to order by President Ted - K9IMM at 7:15 PM. Ten members and guest, Bonnie - W9BJB attended.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the November meeting were read, corrected and approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Financial Statement of Account for the general fund as of November 17, 2014 was read and approved.
Committee Reports:
– DX Report… Jim - KE9ET: K1N - Navassa coming the end of January. Small operations from 8Q and 9N just finishing up, VU4KV Andaman & Nicobar now QRT.
– Repeater… Ed - N9MW: Repeater operating well.
– Packet Cluster… Ed - N9MW: W9BG is operating well.
– Website… Ed - N9MW: Website is operating well.
– Email… Ted - K9IMM: MDXC and SWAP e-mail reflectors are operating well.
– Scholarship… Ed - N9MW: the 2015 scholarship will be $1000. More donated equipment has been sold.
General and Member Information:
Welcome to new member Ron - W9POF. Sharon - W9RNF is recovering from knee surgery.
Bill - N9CHN, Sharon - KA9GPY, Bill - N9NNN, and Jim - W9GL all QSY’d to Arizona for the winter.
Ted - K9IMM has added about 1/3 mile of ground radials under his 160 meter antenna, put it to good use in the ARRL 160 contest, made around 1100 QSOs for a 178K score.
Ted - K9IMM operated in the CQWW-CW contest, made 2200 Qs for a 4.6 million score.
Old Business:
Lloyd - N9LB reported that the contribution to the K1N DXpedition to Navassa was made and the Madison DX Club is now listed on their web site: www.navassadx.com
Two of our southern neighbors from Illinois, Craig - K9CT and Jerry - WB9Z, will be operating from Navassa Island.
New Business:
Lloyd - N9LB reported that MDXC had received a funding request from ON4WW for a one man DXpedition to Bouvet Island - 3Y/B for a proposed January thru April 2016 event.
No action was taken at this time and the request was tabled until more definite plans are made.
The business meeting was adjourned at 7:45 PM.
