The May 2014 meeting of the Madison DX Club was held on Tuesday the 13th at Green Lantern in McFarland, WI.
The meeting was called to order by President Ted - K9IMM at 7:10 PM. Fourteen members attended.
Secretary's Report: Minutes of the April meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer's Report: Financial Statement of Account for the general fund as of April 17, 2014 was read and approved.
Committee Reports:
- DX Report... Ted - K9IMM reported several 6M band openings recently; RI1ANC and RI1ANT - Antarctica on now,
- DX Report...Ed - AC9DE reported several V6 - Micronesia stations and FW5JJ Wallis and Futuna are on now.
- Repeater... Ed - N9MW: Repeater operating well at 30 watts output. A trial running 50 watts output did not make any improvement.
- Packet Cluster... Ed - N9MW: W9BG is working.
- Website... Ed - N9MW: Website is working.
- Email... Ted - K9IMM: e-mail reflector is working.
- Scholarship... Ed - N9MW: Reported that a generous donation of equipment was received from Tom Doyle - W9KE.
General and Member Information:
Bob - W9EWZ CW, HF and VHF operator from Janesville was welcomed to the MDXC.
Jim - KE9ET was present now that his broken ankle is healing.
Herb - W9LA's health is improving and has been heard operating on 20 meters.
Bill - N9CHN has a new Yaesu FT8800 radio in the car.
Ted - K9IMM reported that he received a certificate for 1st place WI and Section for the 2013 ARRL Phone DX contest; he actually won the 2013 ARRL CW DX Contest - certificate now corrected.
Ted - K9IMM reported that a completely new version of N1MM Logger will be announced at Dayton.
Ted - K9IMM reported that NooElectric RTL-SDR has a VHF/UHF Software Defined Receiver for $20, a converter for HF frequencies is available for an additional $45.
Lloyd - N9LB recruited for experienced DX and Contest operators to run as W1AW/9 the first week in July.

Old Business:
The 2014 MDXC Banquet was held at the Maple Tree in McFarland on April 19th. A good time was had by all.
Bill - N9CHN announced that the August MDXC meeting/picnic will be held at his QTH on Lake Wisconsin on Tuesday, August 12.
New Business:
Nominations for 2014-2015 Club Officers were opened.
Ed - N9MW nominated Ted - K9IMM for President.
Bill - N9CHN nominated Ed - N9MW as VP.
Bill - N9CHN nominated Lloyd - N9LB for Secretary/Treasurer.
Nominations remain open thru the June MDXC meeting.
The business portion of the meeting was adjourned at 7:50 PM.
A program about the history of the Morse Code and the new FLEX-Radio 6300 SDR was presented by Ed - N9MW.
