The January 2015 meeting of the Madison DX Club was held on Tuesday the 13th at Fitzgerald’s in Middleton.
The meeting was called to order by President Ted – K9IMM at 7:15 PM.
Seven members and two guests attended, Bonnie – W9BJB and Doug – KC9YTL.
Secretary’s report: Minutes of the December 2014 meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer’s report: Financial Statement of Account for the general fund as of December 17, 2014 was read and approved.
Committee reports:
– DX Report… Ted – K9IMM reported decent DX on 10 and 12 meters, HH3/KWC0W – Haiti on now, K1N – Navassa coming the end of January.
– DX Report… Lloyd – N9LB reported an upcoming Rare DXpedition to EP6T – Iran by a 10 member Belgian Team running 5 High power stations.
– DX Report… The EP6T operation is scheduled for Jan 17 to 26. See: "http://www.rockall.be" for mnore information.
– Repeater… Ed – N9MW: Repeater operating well.
– Packet Cluster… Ed – N9MW: W9BG is operating well.
– Website… Ed – N9MW: Website is operating well.
– Email… Ted – K9IMM: MDXC and SWAP e-mail reflectors are operating well.
– Scholarship… Ed – N9MW: 2015 scholarship letters will be sent to area High Schools by Tim -WO9U.
– Scholarship… Ed – N9MW: Scholarship committee is investigating the costs of setting up formal non-profit status.
General and Member Information:
Doug – KC9YTL has a “new” TH-5 beam.
Sharon – W9RNF is back after recovering from knee surgery.
Ted – K9IMM has his CW skimmer up and running on the international DX spotting system.
Old Business:
Ted – K9IMM reported that MDXC had received a second funding request from ON4WW for a one man DXpedition to Bouvet Island – 3Y/B for a planned 2016 event.
No action was taken at this time and the request is tabled until more definite plans are made.
New Business:
Ted – K9IMM put out a request for volunteers to set up the annual spring MDXC banquet.
The business meeting was adjourned at 7:48 PM.
Following the business meeting, Ed – N9MW presented a program and demonstration on how he remoted his station over the Internet using VNC and Skype, followed by Ted – K9IMM presenting a program and demonstration on how he remoted his station over the Internet using TeamViewer.
