The June 2015 meeting of the Madison DX Club was held on Tuesday the 9th at Fitzgerald's in Middleton.
The meeting was called to order by President Ted - K9IMM at 7:00 PM.
Sixteen members and guests Dave - KC9CLM and Bonnie - W9BJB attended.
Secretary's Report: Minutes of the May 2015 meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer's Report: Financial Statement of Account for the general fund as of May 17, 2015 was read and approved.
Committee Reports:
- DX Report... Jim - KE9ET reported VK0EK - Heard Island has been delayed until March or April 2016, not the best propagation that late in the season.
- DX Report... Jim - W9GL reports two stations are QRV from 4W - Timor Leste.
- DX Report... Ted - K9IMM reports many BY - China stations on recently, also some 6M DX this last week.
- Repeater... Ed - N9MW: Repeater operating well, frequencies are 444.775 / 449.775 with 123 PL.
- DX Spotting Cluster... Ed - N9MW: W9BG is operating well.
- Website... Ed - N9MW: Website is operating well.
- Email... Ted - K9IMM: MDXC and SWAP e-mail reflectors are operating well.
- Scholarship... Ed - N9MW: We have an excellent candidate for this year's scholarship award.
General and Member Information:
Jim - N9ELF cut a guy line with his riding lawnmower, luckily the vertical remained somewhat vertical while repairs were made.
Jim - KE9ET is building a 75 foot T-loaded vertical for 160 meters.
Ted - K9IMM has a new GPS reference oscillator with micro-hertz accuracy.
Former member Frank Holiday is 95 years old and has moved into assisted living in Sun Prairie.
Former member Roger Deicher is doing well in assisted living in Sheboygan.
Old Business:
The request for funding for the proposed 3Y0F - Bouvet DXpedition by the UN7PCZ team was again reviewed
and it was decided to continue to table the
request for funding until their tentative plans for a possible
December 2015 operation are better defined and more definite.
New Business:
The scholarship committee presented their recommended scholarship grant for 2015.
The committee recommends that the 2015 scholarship be awarded to Colin Paiva - W9CLN from Mazomanie, Wisconsin.
Colin is an Eagle Scout and will be attending Yale in the fall.
The membership reviewed Colin's application and voted unanimously to approve the scholarship.
The scholarship committee presented a proposal to broaden the Scholarship program to award grants to schools and institutions
for funding the acquisition of radio communications equipment and providing radio communications program assistance.
A discussion followed and a vote was taken. The proposal was passed with a non-unanimous vote.
A request for funding for the dual DX-pedition to South Georgia - VP8SGI and South Sandwich - VP8STI by the
Intrepid-DX Group was presented to the club for consideration. A motion was made to contribute $250, and was seconded.
A discussion followed regarding current club finances and the rarity and costly nature of this dual DXpedition.
A vote was taken and passed to make the expenditure.
A motion was made to contribute $100 to the Bader Amateur Radio Society "BARS" to offset costs for hosting the DX packet cluster system.
That motion was tabled until next month.
Additional nominations for President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer club officers were solicited.
Jim - KE9ET was nominated for Secretary/Treasurer. No other nominations were received and nominations were closed.
A vote was put to the membership and the slate of nominees was accepted by acclimation.
Elected Madison DX Club officers for the 2015-2016 year are:

Bill - N9CHN and Sharon - KA9GPY offered their Lake Wisconsin QTH to the club for the August 11th MDXC annual Picnic meeting.
The club accepted their offer and a motion was made and seconded to reimburse them $50 for expenses. That motion was voted on and passed.
The business meeting was adjourned at 7:50 PM.
Following the business meeting, a program about the recent 7QAA DXpedition to Malawi was presented by 7QAA DXpedition participant Dick - K9APW.
