The May 2015 meeting of the Madison DX Club was held on Tuesday the 12th at Fitzgerald’s in Middleton.
The meeting was called to order by President Ted – K9IMM at 7:00 PM. Fourteen members attended.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the April 2015 meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Financial Statement of Account for the general fund as of April 19, 2015 was read and approved.
Committee Reports:
– DX Report… Jim – KE9ET reported recent propagation has been “not so good”.
– DX Report… Ted – K9IMM reported many Chinese and Indonesian stations on recently.
– DX Report… Ted – K9IMM reported the ON4WW DX-pedition to Bouvet has been canceled.
– Repeater… Ed – N9MW: Repeater operating well, frequencies are 444.775 / 449.775 with 123 PL.
– DX Spotting Cluster… Ed – N9MW: W9BG is operating well.
– Website… Ed – N9MW: Website is operating well.
– Email… Dave – KB9CSW: MDXC and SWAP e-mail reflectors are operating well.
– Scholarship… Ed – N9MW: Waiting for scholarship applications to come in.
General and Member Information:
Lloyd – N9LB new M2 7-element yagi for 6M DX-ing was successfully installed, just need 6M band openings.
Ted – K9IMM reported that he just hit 100 DXCC entities on 30m, which means 8-Band DXCC.
Bob – W9EWZ received a report of a 2m DX propagation path opening from D4C to PJ4.
Ted – K9IMM 2014 CQWW results are out, he earned 1st place for W9 Phone and 2nd place for W9 CW.
Ted – K9IMM reported his skimmer is back in operation and will be upgrading the frequency standard – again.
Old Business:
It was decided to continue to table the request for funding from the UN7PCZ and team for their proposed Bouvet DXpedition until their tentative plans for a
December 2015 operation are better defined and more definite.
New Business:
Nominations for President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer club officers were solicited.
Ted – K9IMM was nominated for President Ed – N9MW was nominated for Vice President A nomination of Lloyd – N9LB for Secretary/Treasurer was declined.
Nominations remain open into the June meeting at which time voting will take place.
Please consider volunteering for one of these positions – we especially need a volunteer/nomination for Secretary/Treasurer.
The business meeting was adjourned at 7:45 PM.
Following the business meeting, a presentation about practical antenna design and construction, including the use of the AIM RF Analyzer and the SimSmith computer matching program was presented by Ed – N9MW.
